The Sarpy ARC's Mission Statement

OUR OBJECTIVE:

To help provide persons with developmental disabilities the opportunity to choose and realize their goals of where and how they learn, live, work and play.

OUR SERVICES AND FUNCTIONS:

Advocacy---for the needs of children and adults with mental retardation and other developmental disabilities.

Social and Recreational Opportunities
a. Dances for adult citizens--- 3 each year
b. Annual picnic for workshop clients and staff
c. "Camperships" for campers needing financial assistance
d. Support Special Olympics teams/groups in Sarpy County
e. Family Christmas supper/party

George and Helen Armstrong scholarships as added incentive to special education teachers to advance their skills

Governmental Affairs--- helping disabled persons and chapter members be better informed of governmental services and of legislative needs and status

Christmas gifts--- for citizens without families or relatives

Monitor Residential facilities---as a cooperative partner, reviewing the quality of life experienced by the residents

Referral and Advisory services

Financial assistance (Modest)--- for urgent situations
